Scleral shell prosthesis is a thin shell like artificial eye which is designed to be worn over a discolored or disfigured eye. It covers the entire surface of the cosmetically blemished eye, restoring the natural appearance. There is no surgery involved in obtaining a scleral shell, just a few visits to our institution.
Our focus in the fitting process is to provide you with a natural appearance by creating an exact color match and maximizing the movement of the shell.
The custom impression molding process allows us to create a correct and a comfortable prosthetic shell,(scleral shell) which gives excellent movement and a wonderful life like appearance. Usually two visits are necessary to complete the fitting process. Patients are trained to insert and remove the shell at our institution.
