The surgical procedure to remove an eye is referred to as enucleation. Surgery to remove the contents of an eye is referred to as evisceration. Both will require refill with a custom made artificial eye. This refilling should begin five to six weeks following the surgery.
Fitting the custom made eye starts with making an impression mould of your eye socket. This procedure assures optimal comfort for the patient and balanced eye movements.
We have developed advanced art work and sculpting technique to recreate the most life like artificial eye with the most natural appearance .We focus on matching lid folds, lid contours, blood vessels and many other components involved in achieving symmetry. Every effort will be made to maximize the amount of movement and to create an exact color match.
I never use water colors for painting and never paint cornea over the sclera (white part of the eye). According to my technique the prosthetic eye holds the 3 dimensional appearance of the normal eye. Therefore identifying a person with my prosthetic eye is difficult.
